These are some shots from a recent 'photo shoot' with Jim McDowall's new digital camera. It took quite a while to sort out the best conditions and camera settings so the images vary a great deal in quality. Look at the last shots of the ECW 'battle' for the best that this camera can do.

Most of the images are roughly screen sized but you can sometimes see a larger image by clicking on the magnifying glass  Beware some of these may take a while to download.

ANCIENTS : Roman v Carthaginian

The Roman & Carthaginian armies lined up and ready for battle.

Both armies have a psiloi screen, the Carthaginian elephants in the centre, supported by spears, face the Roman legions in two lines with artillery and cavalry to their flank.

The Celts occupy the hill and the Carthaginian flanks are cavalry with an outflanking force of Numidian light horse on the far flank.

A better view of the centre from behind the Roman right flank.
The elephants viewed from the Roman left flank.
